Analysis of He Says Goodbye
Ragen S. Rogers 1977 (Thousand Oaks)
He remembers her love
Looking at her so sad
Holding nothing above
The good times they had
Deeply in fact
He loves her so
Realizing he can't
Just let her go
Standing in front of her
He longs to ask her why
She left him in blur
Without saying goodbye
As he says goodbye
His eyes fill up with tears
The pain won't subside
After so many years
Standing there facing her
Being as strong as he can
Before finally removing her
Ring from her hand
Tells her he loves her
Needs her, misses her and
Putting nothing above her
In his heart she will stand
Just as the wind
Began to blow
They lowered her casket
Down into the snow
Then it came to him
The reason she is gone
Night and night again
This question carried on
It's because this happens
To so many alive
When friends let friends
Get high, drunk & drive.

About this poem
This poem is not a fictional poem, but a poem I wrote on an experience I remember from high school graduation ceremony practice.
