Analysis of A Game Of Chess

A  GAME  OF  CHESS
                      K.R.Balakrishnan

Advancing in high hopes
A frenzied pawn died,
My mind fell into distress.

The rook of my enemy
Rolled through the royal path of my heart,
My knight trembled..

How watchful was I
In moving my pawns forward ;
Hark! In a thoughtful moment
A bishop came to stun me,
But my mind was stern.

My knight has no space to jump
It raises its forelegs and neighs again;
Enemy’s chessmen of question-marks
Make an array, cunning.

Will my king get a kingdom
Without shedding blood ?
Will my queen be able to smile
And take over the royal command ?

A lightning assaults my inner self
My brain searches in vain
Ways all,to multiply my intellect
Going through the fields.

One moment ! Heard any sound of tanks ?
Or bombardment in my chess-board
Beyond the horizon of my chest-board ?

After a big bang
Smoke spreads ; and through it I see
A new chess-board with bright rows and columns.
