Analysis of IN THE QUEST

Mohd Nasir Mahmud 1963 (British Military Hospital)

in miseries
I rush forward

bewildered
as to what direction should I go

is there any place
for my generation

let the hopes keep on fermenting
where is the glory of wisdom
and spirit?

Mohd Nasir Mahmud

Mohd Nasir Mahmud (Pen name: Kemirau @ Sang Murba - literally meant almost ripe/mature) is the pen name of Mohd Nasir bin Mahmud, borned in the British Military Hospital (BMH), Singapore on 19th October, 1963. Being brought up at Kampung Belimbing Dalam, Melaka, an agricultural village environment with lush greeneries of paddy fields and rubber plantations, had further vividly nuanced his childhood experiences like herding buffaloes around riverbank, playing around with peers on the ridges while chasing birds, catching fish in the mud water bare-handedly, sickling grass, shouldering them overloaded under a bamboo pole with extreme hardship, collecting firewoods, plucking molds on fallen rubber trees and shouldering buckets of water using a bamboo pole stepping uphill from the far downhill well; had delicately shaped his innate poetry talent decades ahead. Bonded by commitment as an academician professed in Mathematics and Education after graduated from The University of Malaya and IPTI respectively, and post-graduate specialization in Thermal Convection and Chaotic Behaviour Analysis in Fluid Dynamics at The National University of Malaysia with dozen of works published in international journal publications which can be accessed from SCOPUS/WOS index; had not refrained him from getting engrossed with literary writings in the genre of Malay poetry. His poems including pantoum were frequently published in national magazines and newspapers. As a writer, he plays an active role in PENAMA (the Association of Malacca’s Writers), apart from being a member of PERSAMA (The Malaysian Mathematical Sciences Society), Institute of Physics (IOP, UK) and The Society for Industrial & Applied Mathematics (SIAM, USA). Currently, he hold a position as the Lecturer of Engineering Mathematics/Statistics and Numerical Methods for Chemical Engineering at Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Chemical & Bioengineering Technology (UNIKL MICET). more…
