My Invisible Light

My Invisible Light

My invisible light glows in plain sight of you
And tears trace trails of your absent gaze
Following me in forgettable shadow.
I adore you in subtle silence
A whole in a deep dark ocean
So far below your believing
Prayers sink to the bottom
Hope becomes an orphan
As you walk on by
I go unnoticed.

All my days and nights are transparent
Yet not even my dark echo behind me
Manages to capture your attention
My noble, simple deeds go
As an elegant horse
In the stride of a champion
But your eyes will not pay
One heartbeat of a glance
You could care less
My breath takes place.

So comes the moment when I leave
And the door opens only to close
One last time my name appears
And the morning dew dries
Upon the leaves of yesterday
As a fading eulogy
You offer a token attempt
To make it appear you care
So sorry to disappoint
I leave you no goodbye.
