Flowers In My Garden
Poem...The flowers in my garden"
I set out to write a poem
On this very special day
To honor a special woman
From my heart in my own way
For me this day is tough
As with it brings much pain
But then I am reminded
There's always sunshine after rain
Which has helped me see beyond
The raindrops pouring down my face
To see each flower that has bloomed
In this garden I embrace
There is such beauty in these flowers
That my tears have helped to grow
But what these flowers do for me
Is more than anyone could know
As in this garden I find comfort
Just as it emanates such peace
Overflowing in abundance
I doubt that it will ever cease
It also signifies true beauty
And a heart so full of love
For they represent my mother
As she watches from above
The colors are so vibrant
With subtle hints of lavender
The color she loved most
Reminding me of her
I await this time each year
As I begin clearing a space
Where I carefully place her photo
Next to where I'll place the vase
This bouquet that I so cherish
Is something I hold very dear
As it has proven to be faithful
And on time year after year
And when they're in full bloom
And reveal what's inside
I know that she is with me
Along with God to be my guide
And although the tears keep coming
Just like clockwork every year
I let them pour onto my garden
So the flowers can appear

In Loving Memory of my Dear Mother, Cindy Ramos
About this poem
This poem was written in memory of my dear mother after she was murdered in her own home during a robbery attempt. My mother and I shared a love for poetry and after her death, I turned to writing poetry as my own form of therapy that helped me get through that painful and difficult time. This is one of the pieces I wrote in my mothers memory and in honor of a great woman and mother of six children who miss her dearly.
