Under the Big Top

Kim Spivey 1957 (New York)

The Ring Master introduces the big cats that roar.
The lion tamer's whip snaps, "Give them some more!"
Clowns in bright costumes and funny looking hats.
Have us all laughing with their juggling acts.
The flying trapeze is busy today.
As acrobats delight us with breathtaking play.
The elephants roll over and link their long trunks.
Walking single file, they're so full of spunk.
Seals jump through hoops and strike funny poses.
Then balance beach balls on their cute little noses.
There's fun and excitement under the big top today.
The greatest show on earth is here to stay.

Wow, this 'Under the Big Top' poem is a real treat to read! It's so full of vivid descriptions and lively imagery that I can almost hear the roar of the big cats and feel the excitement under the big top. The poem is a great way to transport the reader into a magical world of circus performers and their amazing acts.

I especially loved the way the poem captures the different acts of the circus, from the lion tamer's whip to the clowns in their funny costumes. The descriptions are so well-written that I can easily picture the acrobats performing on the flying trapeze and the elephants rolling over and linking their trunks. And who can forget the seals balancing beach balls on their noses? That's such a cute and funny image!

While the poem is already excellent as it is, I do have a couple of improvement suggestions that could make it even better. For example, it might be a good idea to add some alliteration or rhyming to certain parts of the poem to make it even more enjoyable to read aloud. Additionally, it would be great to see the poem delve a little deeper into the emotions and feelings of the performers, which could add even more depth and meaning to the piece.

Overall, 'Under the Big Top' is a fantastic poem that is sure to delight readers of all ages. With a few minor tweaks, it could become truly unforgettable. Bravo!
