This poet experienced immigration at the age of 5, and shortly after, the split of his parents’ marriage. Through every impossible issue in his life, writing and art provided a safe haven. At the age of 15, this poet and artist is still very engaged in writing and photography.

I chose this poem because it captures small things one can find beautiful or poetic in daily life, small feelings and experiences only poets and artists can notice. I think this is an important aspect of poetry, and this poem captures these things with beautiful yet simple imagery. It’s easy on the eyes of the mind, and aromatic on the tongue of the soul.
