Love is a Donkey's Tail

Love is a donkey’s tail drifting
 in highland breeze,
lugging behind the beast,
 draping flatulence
(wind dressed in tainted garb)
Love is a donkey’s tail daubed in excrement
of a galloping ass

Breathe words from flavored lips
Water crave with common echoes
Love is sounds tumbling from merchants’ chops
Procure now from parade
things one greatly desires
Love is merchants’ jingles,
beguiling true concerns

hunger lives in dog’s years then
dies quickly
leaving bones of memories
 to dance to dead songs,
somber noises
that tell how much of flesh we are

Rain shun
the earth’s sores
Tears water concrete
Love has no acquaintances
on Eleventh and Vine
love is a gullet for fine wine,
and when one half expires
who visit the gray tombstones?

Earle Francis Brown

I was born in Montego Bay, Jamaica. I was told that I can write, so I wrote and continues to write. I am currently living in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. I enjoy reading "real" poetry. My favorite books are the Pslams, Proverbs and Songs of Solomon.Poetry is not just vocabulary, and use of metaphors and formats. Don't be tricked. Poetry should speak life. I love a poem that tells a story. The most memorable poems are the ones that tell someone's story. I don't care about ratings; the truth is always hated. People are people where-ever we go. more…
