Streets of North Philly

Antonio Mitchell 1974 (PHILADELPHIA)

Who want to know what the streets of North Philly like? Ok but remember I'm not trying to glorify or romanticize my younger life. I seen people lose it all just for a puff of that crack pipe. Gave everything they have to the point they damn near starved. I seen too many mothers through their hands up to the sky screaming "Oh No Please Dear God." Reaganomics had us all  coping until I'll plans got large. Everybody had dreams of being the next neighborhood Cocaine God. Yeah, I was fly the whole crew stayed lit. The streets, was so addicting like them Percocet strips. We played the roof tops. Everytime it got to hot on the block. Back then we would all have been found guilty. If there was cameras on the cops. I can't be a critic to the youth if I already lived it. But it still hurts my heart to see these pictures so vivid. The whole Hood broke down in tears when we heard who really did it. It was a shame with them dudes got killed. When them dudes knew they wasn't the thugs that really did it. Yeah it broke my heart when my CO' D testified against me.  For years  I never would admit it. So many times I could of had him in a fitted. I know I must forgive because in my heart I know I'm different. The legitimate feeling of earning the money, makes me spend it a little different. My Mamma told me "Son the day you leave them guns along and God prayers.  Watch you awake a little different". At that time I was in the streets deep.  And my homies I feel like my loyalty. Made me feel like I was stuck with them. But now I'm not trying to knock nobody.  But I don't really f*ck with them. Too much indirect bitch nigga pussy shit. I rather  stay in the cut where I fit. I'll leave that sucker shit to them other
