Get Ready

Robert Haigh

With devils riding high, and angels flying low,
Some wonders of this great big world I guess I'll never know.
Most things that pass for modern art don't do a thing for me.
I'll stick by the old masters, whose greatness I can see.

I seek not fame and fortune; I'm happy in the shade.
Celebrity comes with a price. The piper must be paid.
Get ready for the spotlight; I'm sure you'll be just fine.
Enjoy your fifteen minutes. I think I'll pass on mine!
