Aren't You Glad?: six feet under

Kenneth R. Jenkins 1961 (Augusta, GA)

Aren't you glad you're here today?
Instead of six feet underground
Not hearing those sad slow songs
Crying over you anyway.

Don't trip that your day is sad
Don't trip that today was like hell,
Don't trip it's been a long day,
Don't trip and please don't get mad.

Be glad there's no slow singing
Songs singing slow and so sad
A sermon preached about you
And all those flowers they're bringing.

Don't trip of what's going on
After your body is in the ground
And all the memories fade
Then family not around.

There you are six feet under
Resting until you take that trip---
Home.
