The Old Tramp.

No place to personally dwell
An experience of 45 years
Including daily knocking
At other doors to beg food,
Clothes,or a few bob
To purchase...

A part of our past but a reality
Reserved in society where some
Humans come second to those
Who believe that it is their task
To control based upon egoism.

Yes, from childhood, I recall the
Door knock and on opening a
Request, sometimes lacking truth,
From humans known as tramps,
Tinkers, gypsies, and beggars.

And the present caller must be in his
Eighties which is associated with various
Physical and mental disorders. And in the
Wake of providing some cash he thanked
Me and off he went...

Which led me to recall part of an earlier poem
Which stated: "And off he went as I fed the hens-
Had he thoughts of riches or fame?". A reference
To the less well off of modern society
And that of the past.
