Second Chance

Second Chance

I do not fear the destination it is the journey that creates the image unclear
steps beyond our control are the reasons for fear
remnants left behind as we wander away
things left undone and words still to say

Standing alone separated by choices, made by hidden voices
a prisoner in the places, where my memory replaces
the judgments and the pressure, to conform and measure
my own expectations, plans, and dreams desires limitations
are more crushing to me than my own high expectations

To the places I am not allowed to live, my failed moments and inability to forgive
leave me vulnerable to a destiny, made by others private agendas escape me
one breathe can give me hope and life, I exhale and feel that I have no right
I owe myself so many things, my soul cries out for fulfillment sings
commitments left undone from tragedy brings, take away my heart and all the things
that reminds me of what I didn't say before I took myself away

I hope you never have the chance to see your demise and live through the circumstance
to know the changes you would make if given the chance, but to live through isolation as the rest advance and realize you are alone

R. William Standish

Bio Robert Standish Robert Standish is an aspiring writer and devoted father of three. After several years in the film and television industry in Canada, he has had the chance to meet some amazing people, travel and experience things, not for normal consumption. As a camera assistant and operator he has been in the line of fire on many occasions and inside explosions and crashes, just to name a few incredible opportunities. “Chalk Outline These Thoughts, 1 and 2, and a fiction novel, “The Secrets Men Keep”, most recently the creator of a collection of poetry entitled “The Passion Hidden Within” (Amazon and Kindle) Now transitioning into a creative writer who has self-published four work, and counting, Robert is setting his sights on the next project. My background I have had the good fortune of having a diverse upbringing and experienced may career path and choices, some good, some not so good. Like everyone, every path brings you to now. I love art and I love to create. I don't like being limited by a genre. A painter can paint a house or a canvass, let them create... My writing roots The inner voice. The Muse. The one person that can recognize the obvious. It is important to listen to any of the above and realize that you are driven to a place of spectator, or performer. I learned it young and forgot. My style The artistic chameleon, my style transforms into the subject matter, although the roots are based on a strategic plan of chaotic approach. I have to have a complete thought and suffer in silence until all the pieces are in place. I will build the complete concept before I break ground. Lego thinking is the key.
