That Amazing Grace

Through longing nights and sunless days,
I've waited, wept and prayed
for answers to my burdened ways.

There was no answer
and courage shrank away.
The thickening shadows threatened
yet, a deeper grief and shame.
Until-- by grace--
the still, small voice filled in,
I realized that  Christ was here,
and always had been,
but knew it not until He swept
the pain and sorrow, and -- by His grace--
revealed the glory of tomorrow.

Not all is whole and one,
for long and lone is yet the road,
but now His promises are dear and nigh,
because of that amazing grace
that showered from above.
