The Great Physician

"Come, fatherless child,
take refuge and pause,
let your wanderings
find refuge in Love's arms.

"Come, woman abandoned,
dig deeper inside,
lay anger, pain, sadness
at the cross-- where I died.

"Come fearful and lonely,
bare open your wound,
I filled it with wholeness,
when I rose from the tomb."

I know not the answer
to each human chagrin,
I know I was dying
from darkness within.

I know that the Saviour
took me in His care,
He gave me the reason
to sing, not despair.

I know that He lives
in every man's heart,
that calls on Him, trusting
to give a new start.
