Little needle

Young and free, wild and fun, he entered the world ready to run
Music and sports, cars and girls, life came fast so he gave it a whirl
Bad decisions, many regrets, it hasn't killed him, at least not yet
Up all night, sleeping all day, his family could see him, drifting away
Questions were asked, lies were told, he was there child, worth more than gold
A mother's tears, and fathers scorn, it will soon be too late and they shall mourn
The next day he was gone, it lasted a few days, and when he returned he was in a haze.
A couple years went by, and nothing changed, he woke up every day, continued to play the game
But the game got harder, he needed more to win, he desired more power which equaled more sin
He made new friends, or so he thought, but he had no clue of the hell he bought
It looked so clear by the candle light, he grabbed his tourniquet and tied it tight
His vein popped up, the little needle went in, he pushed the liquid, this was the end
He lost the battle, the game now over, his body lies in a field of clovers
The drug, the addiction, took control of his life
He will never experience a child or a wife
His mothers heart wears a permanent scar, although she was amazed he made it this far
His dad mind will never be the same, it takes his breath just speaking his name
This once little boy, chasing butterflies and beetles
Threw his life away over chasing needles..
