Time

Time
By Bob Curran

--
The tide is turning and churning
The clouds are passing by
Humankind has come to the brink
And now faces extinction
Time marches on
We’ll drown in our waste
If we don't make haste
Recycle today
you put it off anyway
It’s better to lie in the hay
Hit the snooze
And read the news
Pretty outside
The yard needs mowing
Look at the seeds you're sowing
Time marches on
You’re late for an appointment
The traffic, the traffic
Or you missed your bus
Count the seconds if you must
The hours add up
To a country on the verge of giving up
Nuclear war threatens
The hungry people on TV beckon
You look at the clock
Its time to eat
In the refrigerator is some meat
but you have to thaw it out
And while you are
You are not
