Unwanted

Unwanted

She looked at her baby.

And yet she didn’t smile.

Instead she told the nurse to take it away.

As tears slid down her face.

They asked her if she wanted to keep it, she said maybe.

She was on trial.

She knew what she had to say.

She needed her breathing space.

She took one more look at the infant.

She grew more distant.

She got out while she still could.

But in her heart, she didn’t know where she stood.

Years passed by.

The child turned into a lady.

But all she would do is cry.

And was a little shaky.

Why did you go?

She asked.

Why is this pain so slow?

Why does it have to last?

She knew in her heart, no matter what anyone said.

She already knew in her head.

She was haunted with the thought of being unwanted.
