The milkman

He has delivered milk to our family for years
In fact I recall him with bottles of milk
When I was very young
And like him I am getting on
But as I look back I recall
An old wooden cart
Occasional led by a horse
Or a donkey.

~
At present, however, my favourites
Are not to be seen for when I open
My families door a
Large milk delivery van
Stands like the walls of Derry
Preventing any vision beyond.

~
But, to conclude,
 I must say that
I am still a lover of milk
And the tradition of the milkman
Still remains an important part
Of our community
In-spite of the supermarkets
Continual removal of the milkman.
