Falling Over a Shadow

Lying in bed covered in a soft silk sheet
Under the night sky’s cold breeze
She’s caught up with that man’s shadow
She’s losing her mind as swift as a thunderstone.

His curious mind is the first thing that made her fall
The way he talks leaves her smiling till all night long
His words taste sweet but neither made nor meant for her
She’s feeling like a green-eyed monster behind her flare.

He’s two summers later than her life’s dawn
Not even the ideal man in her mind’s eye’s vision
But she found herself wide awake dreaming of his beautiful soul
‘Cause that’s all she has, that’s all.
