Colour in the grey

A long forgotten doorway
standing askew
door to the floor in a shaft of moving sunlight
peel and curl paint
cobwebbed and coated
in particles of numerous past
dust motes spiralling upward
are caught in the light
suspended momentarily in the musty moment
here a variation of a complex life
found space to grow
to evolve and change
from crawling form to delicate beauty
to flit for all to short a time
through dereliction and decay
and fall finally as colour in the grey
