Maíre Rua
Stocky and middle aged
With an Irish tweed cap
To shade from the sun
Churning soil
And revealing
Clods glinting
Smelling of tractor oil
In a spring field
Accompanied by an
Occasional mumbling curse
A bit of a character and
Capable of matching
Most men
A fond lover of the land
While adept at house work
But ill at ease without the horse
