CEDRIC'S NEW SHOES.

CEDRIC'S NEW SHOES

CEDRIC THE CENTIPEDE WAS FEELING THE BLUES
HE URGENTLY WANTED TO GET SOME NEW SHOES
BUT CENTIPEDE'S SHOES ARE EXCEEDINGLY RARE
HE NEEDED A HUNDRED AND NOT JUST A PAIR.

THE WINTER WAS COMING WITH SNOW AND WITH SLEET
AND HE WAS AFRAID HE MIGHT GET COLD FEET
HE LIVED IN THE WOODSHED AMIDST ALL THE BLOCKS
AND HIS MUMMY HAD KNITTED HIM LOVELY NEW SOCKS.

THE LOCAL SHOEMAKER WAS ADAM THE ANT
WHO MADE SHOES FROM LEAVES OF THE JUNIPER PLANT
ADAM'S DADDY CAME HOME AND SAID "COME ALONG MADAM"
WE'LL WALK DOWN THE LANE WITH AN ORDER FOR ADAM.

WHEN THEY GOT TO THE ANT HILL ADAM WAS BUSY
HE'D BEEN SEWING ALL DAY AND HE FELT RATHER DIZZY
THEY TOOK TEA TOGETHER AND ADAM AGREED
THAT HE'D MAKE CEDRIC'S SHOES IN A WEEK GUARANTEED.

ADAM THE COBBLER WAS AS GOOD AS HIS WORD
AND WORKED WITH SUCH SPEED THAT HIS EYES BECAME BLURRED
BUT THERE ON THE FRIDAY HE'D MADE FOR OUR HERO
FIFTY NEW PAIRS OF LEAF SHOES SIZE ZERO.

CEDRIC HIMSELF WAS EVER SO PROUD
HE LOOKED AT HIS NEW SHOES AND SHOUTED OUT LOUD
NOW HE COULD RUN IN THE CENTIPEDE RACES
AND HE TOOK HALF AN HOUR TO TIE UP THE LACES.

SO IF YOU'RE IN THE COUNTRY AND YOU HEAR CLIP CLOP
IT'S PROBABLY CEDRIC TRYING TO HOP
SO PAUSE FOR A MOMENT AND TRY NOT TO SNOOZE
AND YOU MIGHT GET A GLIMPSE OF CEDRIC'S NEW SHOES.
