L'Île verte

Maurice Rollinat 1846 (Châteauroux) – 1903 (Ivry-sur-Seine)



Des ruisseaux un déluge a fait de lourds torrents
Qui roulent, pêle-mêle, écumeux, dévorant
L’étendue, au travers des landes, des pacages,
Et changeant en lacs fous les stagnants marécages.

Mais l’eau dort plate autour d’un grand tertre escarpé,
Tout hérissé de bois. Lent, le soir est tombé.
Dans l’air mort, où s’ébauche un soupçon de tonnerre,
Rôde, vitreux, magique, un jour de luminaire.

Et, lorsqu’au plus épais d’une torpeur d’extase
Un crapaud, goutte à goutte, épand son fin solo,
C’est du rêve de voir à cette unique phrase

Surgir une île verte en des profondeurs brunes,
Entre le blanc du ciel et le jaune de l’eau,
Sous le diamanté rose et bleu de la lune !
