Les Deux Serpents

Maurice Rollinat 1846 (Châteauroux) – 1903 (Ivry-sur-Seine)

Fuis la femme, crains la vipère,
En tous lieux, en toute saison,
Et prends garde à leur trahison,
Même à l’heure où ton âme espère !

Ces deux serpents-là font la paire :
L’Amour est jumeau du Poison.
Fuis la femme, crains la vipère,
En tous lieux, en toute saison !

Avec le soupçon pour compère,
Avec la Mort pour horizon,
Cours la Vie ! et que la Raison
Soit toujours ton point de repère !
Fuis la femme, crains la vipère !
