Mais pourquoi voler avec tant de mystère
« Et si longuement dans ces grands corridors ?
« Vous seriez si bien à votre aise dehors,
« Dans le brouillard frais qui tombe sur la terre.

« Vous avez sans doute un vol involontaire,
« O chauves-souris noires comme un remords !
« Mais pourquoi voler avec tant de mystère
« Et si longuement dans ces grands corridors ?

« Pour ainsi hanter ce château solitaire,
« Vous n’êtes pas des âmes de mauvais morts ?
« Enfin, pour ce soir, vivent les esprits forts !
« Je reste là, sans que la frayeur m’attère.
« Mais pourquoi voler avec tant de mystère ?
