Le petit écureuil fait de la gymnastique
Sur un vieux chêne mornefoisonnent les guis.
Les rayons du soleil, maintenant alanguis,
Ont laissé le ravin dans un jour fantastique.

Le paysage est plein de stupeur extatique ;
Tout s’ébauche indistinct comme dans un croquis.
Le petit écureuil fait de la gymnastique
Sur un vieux chêne mornefoisonnent les guis.

Tout à l’heure, la nuit, la grande narcotique,
Posera son pied noir sur le soleil conquis ;
Mais, d’ici là, tout seul, avec un charme exquis,
Acrobate furtif de la branche élastique,
Le petit écureuil fait de la gymnastique.
