Le mort s’en va dans le brouillard
Avec sa limousine en planches.
Pour chevaux noirs deux vaches blanches,
Un chariot pour corbillard.

Hélas ! c’était un beau gaillard
Aux yeux bleus comme les pervenches !
Le mort s’en va dans le brouillard
Avec sa limousine en planches.

Pas de cortège babillard.
Chacun en blouse des dimanches,
Suit morne et muet sous les branches.
Et, pleuré par un grand vieillard,
Le mort s’en va dans le brouillard.
