Je dis à la bergère : « Où donc est ta bessonne !
      Oh ! mais, comme tu lui ressembles ! »
La fille soupira : « Ma sœur est mort’ ! personne
      N’nous verra plus jamais ensemble.

C’est vrai que j’suis son doub’, son r’venant q’l’on dirait,
      Celui-là qui me r’gard’ la voit.
De visag’, de parler, d’taill’, j’suis tout son portrait :
      J’suis elle, comme elle était moi.

      Je m’la ressuscit’ ben souvent.
      J’prends tout c’quell’ portait d’son vivant,
      À sa façon, j’m’en habill’ telle,

      Et puis, d’vant un’ glac’, pour tout d’bon,
      J’y cause… et, lorsque j’y réponds,
      Je me figure que c’est elle !
