La châtaigneraie

Maurice Rollinat 1846 (Châteauroux) – 1903 (Ivry-sur-Seine)



Gloire à cette rencontre, en ces fonds de la Marche,
Surgissant, après tant de tours et contremarches,
D'une châtaigneraie, immense, en vétusté,
Comblant tout un ravin de son énormité !

Vivent ces châtaigniers, monstres et patriarches,
Lugubres frères noirs en la difformité,
Horrifiant l'endroit par la solennité,
Le morne, et le croulant de leurs rameaux en arches !

Grave, tombe au sol frais leur grande ombre qui marche
Sur des cèpes suintant leur venin fermenté.
Vivent ces châtaigniers, monstres et patriarches,
Lugubres frères noirs en la difformité !

Leurs troncs où les renflés d'écorce font des marches,
Moussus, ont pour l'orfraie un escalier ouaté,
Et la sifflante bête, à la torse démarche,
Trouve, en leur gros pied cave, abri, sécurité.
Vivent ces châtaigniers, monstres et patriarches !
