Tant que l'oiseau de Jupiter vola,
Portant le feu dont le ciel nous menace,
Le ciel n'eut peur de l'effroyable audace
Qui des Géants le courage affola :

Mais aussitôt que le Soleil brûla
L'aile qui trop se fit la terre basse,
La terre mit hors de sa lourde masse
L'antique horreur qui le droit viola.

Alors on vit la corneille germaine
Se déguisant feindre l'aigle romaine,
Et vers le ciel s'élever derechef

Ces braves monts autrefois mis en poudre,
Ne voyant plus voler dessus leur chef
Ce grand oiseau ministre de la foudre.
