Ha, que tu m'es cruelle

Jean Antoine de Baif 1532 (Venice) – 1589 (Paris)

Ha, que tu m'es cruelle,
Que tu reconois mal
Pour t'estre trop fidelle
Tout ce que j'ay de mal !
O rebelle endurcie,
Quand devôt je te prie
Me donner un baiser
Pour rafraichir la flâme
Qui brusle dans mon ame,
Tu la viens rembraizer.

Tu trouves mille ruses
Pour ne venir au point :
Tu trouves mille excuses
Pour ne me baiser point :
Ou quelcun nous aguigne,
Ou ta soeur te fait signe,
Ou tu ois quelque bruit,
Ou tu me contreins dire
Mon amoureux martire,
Tandis le temps s'enfuit.

Tandis s'envole l'heure
Emportant le plaisir,
Mais l'ennuy me demeure
En mon bruslant desir.
Tandis que tu delayes,
De mille et mille playes
Amour navre mon coeur.
Ha tandis ha, Francine,
Dans ma chaude poitrine
S'empire ma langueur.

Francine, tu t'abuses,
Si croissant le desir,
Tu cuides par tes ruses
Croistre aussi le plaisir.
' Plus une soif est gloute
' Moins le breuvage on goute,
' Tant soit-il doucereux :
Fust-ce une malvoisie
Fust-ce, en si grande envie,
Un nectar savoureux.

Mais bien plus je m'abuse
De me douter en rien,
Que cette fine ruse
Tu faces pour mon bien.
Tu reçois trop de joye
De me voir pris en proye
Par l'oyseau Cupidon :
Tu te plais trop à rire
De me voir en martire
Te requerir pardon.

Mais puis qu'ainsi ta joye
Est en mon deplaisir,
Tout mon coeur je t'otroye,
Genne-le de desir :
Bien plustost que je n'aye
Ce confort de la playe
Qu'amour fait en mon coeur,
J'acheteray, farrouche,
Un baiser de ta bouche,
Pour la mesme langueur.
