De Rose

Jean Antoine de Baif 1532 (Venice) – 1589 (Paris)

Ce n'est point la paquerete,
La marguerite, le lis,
L'oeillet ny la violete,
La fleur où mon coeur j'ay mis.

J'aime entre les fleurs la rose,
Car elle porte le nom
D'une qui mon ame a close
A toute autre affection.

La rose entre les fleurétes
Gagne l'honeur et le pris :
Parféte entre les parfétes
Est la Rose qui m'a pris.

L'autre rose l'on voit nestre,
Comme fille du printems,
Mais un printems prend son estre
De cette Rose en tout tems.

La mienne, où queue se place
Cent mille fleurs fèt lever,
Et, fust-ce dessus la glace,
Fêt un aeté de l'yver.

Cette Rose tant émée
Comme l'autre ne sera,
Qui de matin estimée
Au soir se destimera.

Car l'autre rose fanie
Pourra perdre sa vigueur :
Tousjours la mienne épanie
Florira dedans mon coeur.

Amour de douce rosée
Cette Rose arousera
Quand ma compagne épousée
De maîtresse il la fera.
