A Parent's Love

A parent's love is an open lake rife with cod ready to be fished
A can of beans perched on the lower shelf easily reached by a son
But a plateful of awkwardness a daughter does not want to be dished

A great emotion, a tender feeling unmatched even if it wished
When a child is starving for emotional support-solace undone
A parent's love is an open lake rife with cod ready to be fished

A fondness that lasts like cinnamon sticks after a meal is finished
Like the proteins of rice and beans, beneficial and healthy for one
But a plateful of awkwardness a daughter does not want to be dished

As pain harasses it's dupes the relics of their words are diminished
Drifting in a boat, casting off rods, the pearl sheen bending the sun
A parent's love is an open lake rife with cod ready to be fished

When one starves for affection by their own stubbornness they grow languished
Forthrightness is the recipe for a dish of doting by the ton
But a plateful of awkwardness a daughter does not want to be dished

A mother's love coiled up in a daughter's hair on her head as a bun
A father's love feigning death pliant bullets shot from a toy gun
A parent's love is an open lake rife with cod ready to be fished
But a plateful of awkwardness a daughter does not want to be dished
