One's warm smile

Shining sun—aloft amid the vast, clear skies
Gorgeous and graceful, another day—she shines.
Sunlight—touching and kissing, my face and flowers
Innocently hurting my eyes yet,
blessing me with its warmth, a light shower.
Birds, flying high and grass,
dancing happy by breeze.
Mountains, as mighty as they seem with their snowy hats, as far as I see.
A kingdom I come across—walls as tall as the sky,
The gate also a bridge, for the narrow river between; I unhurriedly pass by
As marvelous, the realm looked at first, does even more now!
Everyone so happy. everyone so loud.
In the middle, a stoney castle—
Beside wooden stores and wooden houses.
Bakers at work,
and delightful smell of bread;
a heavenly way to die,
by this pleasure.
A little far away,
I see a florist,
Watering her flowers—While wrapped in her sunny dress.
     On my left,
I hear children screaming and yelling,
I turn my head to side,
Little boys and girls—with their wooden swords, joyfully role-playing;
like heroes and adventurers, posing and gesturing.

They perform so lively and happy, and yet...
I feel... uneasy... when staring at them.
The way of heroes : grace, fame and adventure,
That's how they see it until they become one someday
A chill falls into my heart, unbearably unpleasant.
All the terrors and darkness, I dealt with,
On naive tongues... are dreams and sad how dreams they dream are night terrors.
Darkness deep,
        No moon to fall,
Promised sun,
        Who never dawned.
shining key,
        yet false doors,
Beautiful roses,
        Spiky thorns.
Tasty dessert,
        Cursed and poisonous,
Glamorous sirens,
        highly dangerous.
I chose this way to protect,
The ones I love, mainly her.
yet soon, I fell down in a cage
The Cage of despair, with no escape.
Hundreds I've saved yet thousands lost,
Theirs faces a reminder, how powerless I always was.
"you can't save everyone" I always heard,
But if i can't do so then how I can save her?
Always struggled with this thought, a mental disaster.
A druid once told me in the answer
(met him once went into a mystical forest,
Found him beside a lake, the place he rests)
"this world is a station, not a home.
All who you lost,
Yet lives in your heart, their home.
This life is but a chrysalis,
A foreseen end and goodbye,
Time comes for you to emerge,
And be free like a butterfly"
I don't share my thoughts but, I did with him,
How he was so cozy and warm for me to speak these things??
I'll see him again, even on last day of earth,
He was who showed me, how immortality is a curse.

I spaced out, was lost in thought،
One of the kids, hesitantly came to me and woke me up.
Judging by my clothes and sword
He claimed I was a hero, a lord.
He idolized me, and asked me for a memory,
So I told him an epic fight in my story.
I told him about the time
"I fought a massive winged hydra in a night.
Thrice the heads, thrice the trouble
With its roar, the earth would tremble.
Sword in hand made me a threat,
So they breathed their fire at my direction,
Scarlet blazes racing to me, a hurricane,
Creating a huge hell pit, yet I flashed and escaped it.
While busy roasting everything, I got close and jumped in the sky,
Charged my sword at my left side, ready for a fatal strike;
Yet it blew me away rapidly moving its wings;
But I did cut its skin ,though not so deep,
It shrieked of pain, a noise so HORRIFYING!
I cast a blood spell using my right hand,
Which made its wound Spread and Corrupted;
It screamed loudly of pain.
SCREAMING...
                 screaming...
                                 screaming.
But eventually fell on the ground and stopped moving.
It's death made the sky cry,
Closed forever, each of its six eyes.
My swordmanship caused the stars to fall
Sun honored me with its warm light
By the dawn, a new day has come."
The excitement, and stars in his eyes,
In the wake of hearing my memory—
Ignited a fire in my heart.
All this darkness, shifting to light,
Just by one's warm smile.

About this poem

This is one of my favorite and one of the longest poems I've written. This poem speaks about the dark side of being a hero that nobody talks about, how powerless and powerful death is and how can humans affect each other's mental health.
