My Homie's Story
Shia Dworkin 2009 (New York City)
Home, ho me, my homie told me a story about a boy who loved his home so much that he thought it was a magical place. To the extent he would frolic in it and give grace. But one day, his parents decided to move, it was all out of the blue. He felt as if no one cared for him. He felt as if his will to live was becoming dim. The boy was so upset, he felt as if he was shot and the world was going to end. So he decided to do something rash. So rash in fact just thinking about it made him almost hurl in the trash. He decided to run away, into the woods, away from society, like no one should. The boy was all ready to leave until his dad walked in and started to make a scene. His father’s eyes were full of tears, which made one thing clear. The boy was wanted and cared for, he felt ashamed for his plans of escape. He went over to his dad to embrace. In the end, the boy’s parents decided not to move, this was their way of proving to the boy that they wanted their relationship to improve. Why am I telling you this exactly, because I want to show you how vast a parent's love is for their child and that they would do anything to see you smile.
