Fumbling in Starlight: Infinite Yearning's Dance

I once wished to pluck all stars from blackened skies

Just to illuminate your dreary, darkened nights

But failed, as feeble hands cannot grasp such heights

Nor comprehend the depth of your soul's cries

This longing heart envisioned a thousand ways

To gift you love, though clumsy in its chase

These hands still fumble in their timid embrace

While yours effortlessly light my dusky days

What is this love that speaks an unknown tongue?

That knows not how to woo nor to enchant

Yet burns with fevered passion by your side

Seeking your glance amid the thoughtless throng

I choose you, just the same, my lovely saint

In all your mysteries, I shall still abide

My sunken ship explores your hidden fathoms

Though ignorance leaves me blindly out of depth

Still I attempt to scale your silent cliffs

Grasping at wisps of clouds with desperate hands

But loving you remains beyond my grasp

Your boundless being, I cannot hope to clasp

Yet my heart insists to trace your distances

Through uncharted oceans filled with unknown risks

What strange enchantment lures me to your shores?

Despite the storms, I'm helplessly enthralled

Crashing myself against your rocky walls

Only to be swept out again, and left forlorn

But something deeper calls me back once more

To brave the waves and tempests of your world

These earthbound wings can never reach your heights

Where your splendid spirit freely takes its flight

Beyond the limits where my thoughts take shape

But though you soar in realms beyond my sight

My anchored heart still yearns to join your dance

Through clouded skies of sun and rain's romance

Unable to contain your vast infinity

Still I ache to share your rare sublimity

And wander lost, within your mysteries

Here on earth, I grasp for hands I cannot see

Yet my soul embraces you most fervently

In awe, I welcome all you choose to be

What strange enigma has entranced my mind?

That loves so deeply, yet cannot define

The nameless yearning that has seized my days

A hopeless quest, but one my heart obeys

For only you can set its rhythms right

And lead me from the darkness into light

These eager hands once tried to cage your spirit

But found your wings could never be held here

Your restless soul ever remains beyond

No earthly chains can make you less than free

Now humbled, I seek only to set you free

In all your glory, just as you must be

I stand before an oracle, mute and blind

Whose secrets taunt, but never can be pried

By force or cunning to reveal their wise

Yet something deeper calls me to your side

To simply bask within your shining rays

And not demand what you cannot display

For now I know that words cannot divulge

The mysteries that in your heart emerge

I can but marvel, lovingly bemused

By truths beyond my present earthly views

And pledge myself, to gently walk with you

Down whatever paths that you may next pursue

This ignorant heart once tried to grasp and hold

What cannot be contained, but slips away

Much like the mist that wreathes the gaping hills

Now emptied hands are open to receive

Whatever gifts of self you wish to give

In simplicity, not asking, I believe

Now freed from vain ambition's selfish dreams

My heart has found a truer kind of wealth

In treasuring your happiness and health

No longer bound by fear, desire, or doubt

I seek in selflessness to give my all

To nurture that rare light within your soul

How foolish once I thought to own your heart

As if your love were mine alone to hoard

This arrogant self now knows a humbler part

To simply love without demanding more

To ask how best I might support your way

And walk this path with you from day to day

Your abiding love remains mystery

I cannot grasp or ever hope to earn

Yet gratefully I welcome all you gift

Without the need for bargain, toll or trade

For loving you is payment in itself

I ask no more than what you wish to make

Though oft I stumble, falter, lose my way

Still something deeper draws me back to you

As sun-kissed meadows call the wandering bee

Your vibrant spirit stirs my slumbering soul

Awakening this heart to live more true

To all the beauty that you help me see

For loving you has nurtured life within

Where once my barren heart had left me waste

You are the springtime to my weary winter

The joy that helps me bloom amid life's storms

With you, my fallow fields grow gold again

As faith and hope are gently reborn

What grace is this, that out of dust and ash

You raise new life, and make my spirit soar?

The more I love, the more I understand

The depth and breadth of your unending song

Each verse reveals new nuances to me

Beyond the limits of my mortal grasp

Yet loving you remains so sweet and clear

The purest note my hollow breast can sound

To love is to be filled yet left desiring

Quenched yet thirsty in the same moment

Like drinking from the freshest, coolest stream

That trickles through a parched and dusty land

Always I long for more of your rare wine

Intoxicated, yet forever revived

Your abiding love remains deep mystery

That far outreaches reasoning's cold grasp

Yet I surrender gladly, come what may

To the strange enchantment you have cast

Content to be enraptured by your spell

And follow where your graceful footsteps lead.
