Can't See Me

Frank Layden 1960 (Newfoundland)

Stashed deeply inside so that others can't see
Are long ago secrets that define the real me
Molding fabrication into a state of perfection assures my acceptance and denies rejection

Mastering deception requires more than cost
While forging authentic the authentic is lost
With false-self using ego the real is reversed
Genuine mirrors illusion it is so well rehearsed

A false-self well created is what they all see
Portrayal so realistic they think it is me
Camouflaged in mystery not unlike a ghost
My true self identity is what suffers the most
