God's in Tennessee

Sleepin’ on a train in Texas and I dreamed of Tennessee
I woke up in Alabama and saw you sittin’ across from me
I wondered how I got to heaven…I never saw the Nashville sign
Then you looked at me and smiled and took Tennessee off my mind

I was dreamin’ bout home in Memphis and everything it meant to me
Tho’ I was ridin’ thru Tuscaloosa my heart was in Tennessee
I gazed at you in wonder, such an unbelievable surprise
I barely knew I was awake when I saw starlight in your eyes

I didn’t know just what to say… my lucks been runnin’ thin
I couldn’t stand the thought of losin’ you…this time I had to win
You said you missed the Smokey Mountains…way the mist hangs in the trees
Then we both remembered Graceland and starry nights in Tennessee

Was I only dreamin’…could a love like this come true
Are there really 2nd chances for people like me and you
With no promises ever spoken I took your hand in mine
Tennessee magic workin’…two hearts had entertwined

(Chorus)
Struggling with the twists of life
and shouting into the wind
thats when a lonely heart cries out,
but when 2 become 1 the angels weep
with joy and all of heaven sings
Sure the devil went to Georgia
but God’s in Tennessee
