Dødsenglen flyver i slimet Ham
Atter om Land og Rige.
Frygten er død; mit Hjerte fornam:
Hvad har vel Døden at sige?
Død er et Skridt kun videre frem,
Opad det gaaer gjennem Smerte;
Gud har beredt os det herligste Hjem;
Ei døer vor Aand og vort Hjerte:
De, som alt her i Øinenes Glar
Viste den Skikkelse, Sjælen har,
Sjælen, der lever og virke vil,
Naar ei vor Jord og dens Stjerner er til.
