Some Things I Have To Do Though I Don't Mean You Harm

At the edge of the bed
In the dark of the night
These thoughts in my head
Keep me up 'til the light

Am I seducing my muse
Or being led askew
Could this be a siren misguiding my cruise

I express my feelings
I explain my thoughts
Though try as I might it all seems to be lost

No matter the words
No matter what I say
It's always misheard
And taken the wrong way

I've missed all the hints and been confused by the clues
Though I'm enchanted by the dance
I fear it's a ruse

Here’s one more obstacle with which to deal
One more wound that will never heal

I can't understand what leads to the screams
Searching for balance
Only finding extremes

This heated exchange
Always calms and resolves
Though here it is again
Please tell me what went wrong

Please speak to me
When I ask for your thoughts
Please teach me
So that I may be taught

I know there is something
Nothing does not exist
Though it seems to be in vain
I can not resist

My fingers have withered
My hands have cramped
I get more feedback from my amp

Relentlessly searching for what it was
I continue to weaken
With the strength of love
