The Ocean's Feast: A Final Remembrance
Once you've passed beyond the mortal coil,
And found yourself beneath the ocean floor,
The creatures that once swam beside your soul
Will come to inspect what lies in store.
A hundred sea beasts, with sharp and gleaming eyes,
Their scales reflecting light in piercing glows,
Will come to swarm around your form, surprise
That one so young should find this final close.
The ocean of your life, so deep and wide,
Was filled with wealth, and power, and desire,
And yet, in death, it's just a great abyss
That all must visit, no matter their fire.
But now, you'll be remembered as a prize
For all the creatures that call this ocean home.
The countless squid, the seaweed, and the jellies,
Will come to feast upon your flesh, alone.
You'll be a feast, a symbol of their power,
A memory of all the things you've lost,
A warning to all who would seek to devour
What they don't understand, at any cost.
For they will find, just like Odysseus did,
That pride and greed will always lead to ruin.
Your life, once grand and mighty, will be hid
In the belly of the beasts, and darkens still.
And so, my friend, when you reach that final rest,
Take heed of those who come to call you home.
Remember that all material wealth and might
Is meaningless, when faced with your final night.
