Reveries of Innocence: A Sonnet to St. Michael's School Days in Umsning , Ri Bhoi

In melancholic reverie we gaze,
Upon the days of youth and boundless zeal,
When our hearts and souls did boldly blaze,
With innocence, and energy, and ideal.

Innocent days of childhood now past,
Where we spent most of our formative years,
In St. Michael's Higher Secondary School,
At Umsning, where the sun did always rule.

The days where we laughed, and learned, and grew,
And danced, and sung, and hoped, and prayed,
And felt the beauty and the magic's hue,
And forged the memories that still remain today.

But now those days are gone, and we are old,
With memories that still so vivid, bold.

Like in Dante's "Inferno," we find,
A depiction of life's fleeting nature,
And in Keats' "Ode to a Nightingale," we bind,
Our sorrows and our joys to life's great picture.

And in Tagore's "Gitanjali," we see,
The value of memories, and how they set us free.

But still, we cling to the memories of our youth,
For they hold within them a glimmer of hope,
A reminder of the laughter and the truth,
That filled our hearts and souls, so wide, so scope.

For even though our bodies may decline,
Our memories and spirit shall forever shine.

So let us cherish the days of our youth,
And the memories of our childhood days,
At St. Michael's Higher Secondary School,
Where we learned and laughed and played and prayed.

For these memories shall always be with us,
A treasure trove of joy, a comfort to us.

And though we may now be old and gray,
We shall always be young in our hearts,
And the memories of those childhood days,
Shall always light up our darkest parts.

So let us remember to those days gone by,
And the memories of our childhood, nigh.

And let us remember, with melancholic eyes,
The beauty and the wonder of our youth,
And how it shaped us, and how it made us wise,
And how it filled our hearts with laughter and truth.

For the memories of our youth shall always stay,
A testament to the love and laughter of our childhood days.
