The Lazy Rhymer's House

two weeks of dishes in the sink
the cat is lost in the grass
two inches of dust on everything
I have foolishly amassed

the soles of my feet are brown
deserted books lay all around
my eyes are permanently cast down
so I won't see it all crash down

my beautiful place of refuge
my dream
my prize
the hard-won feeling I could really feel alive

I came here to live
but I think
I came here to die.
