Grimm's whisper

T.S.W Sehomane 1994 (Pretoria)

The silence of my thoughts was brocken
The Grimm's whisper again...
It's been a while now, but the feeling is still familiar,
What follows is a war I have conquered countless times.
However, this feeling is not one that fades away with ease, in fact it swallows up my whole being.
I know one thing though, for a while and as uncertain as when we first met...
It will be back and forth between death and life for in this continuous war there must always be a victor.
The smile shall crack to the surface hiding the turmoil that has ensued internally.
A choice I must make in the end...
And try to remember it for a while I must
At least to bring this war to a brief end.
To live or to die by my own hands?

About this poem

This poem aims to address an internal dialogue that is taking place within a depressed soul. And with the spike of mental cases that our society is facing and the fact that depression is a symptom of many of these illnesses, I hope someone will find solace in the fact that they are not the only ones stuck in this struggle and maybe find strength to go on.
