sp sweetly
but what you don't see
are the torn seams
sewn together
precariously
you see me whole
but you don't know
where he staked his claim
his stake remains
stuck between
my church and state

There is far too much sadness
sewn into my skin.
When did it get in?
Like ink
spilled on white cloth,
this sorrow
stains every thought.
I try to flee
but I'm caught
in between
melting into the melancholy
heeding its call
