The ballad of ireland

Oh, if it was another country
Where I first saw light of day
I doubt if any could compare
With the land of Irish clay.
~
For my homeland is a treasure
Lapped daily by the Irish sea
An island of culture and of beauty
And the only place for me.
~
Oh! across the globe there are
Various countries of beauty and
Renown but none compares with
An Irish city, or village,or town...
~
Oh,yes, Our Creator ordained us to
Share a western isle on the verge
Of a continent and to welcome all
Of our fellow humans with a smile.
~
Oh! Ireland, mother Ireland, I love you
As the best, and if I ever depart from
You I am aware that I shall never be
At rest.
