The Ballad Of Derry

Oh, Derry, is ancient and historic
As some of you may know and
Through our lovely Irish city
The river Foyle does flow.
.
It is the city of St. Colm Cille
And others of renown who
Brought fame and glory to
Our former northern town.

Oh! this city of my ancestors
I love street by street and
The warmth of our people
Whom again I long to greet.

So, perhaps, in the future
I will travel back again
To the north west of Ireland
Over the beauty of Glenshane.

There to see again fair Derry
With my kinsfolk at the door
Of that little Foyleside house
Where I played in days of yore.
