SILENT I CAN'T BE
Barry Green Jr 1973 (Florida)
SILENT I CANT BE
Too often we're told be silent
Why can't we just be quiet?
But on my God alone I'm reliant
Quiet? I'm gonna cause a riot!!!
I'm gonna SHOUT MY PRAISE about
Gonna PRAISE MY JESUS to all
Come on believers, it's time to SHOUT!
I'm going to shake hell's gates till they fall
You want me to whisper my praise?
Keep it inside the church, a tiny voice
But I'm a child of God, in all my ways
Whisper? I'm gonna lift a joyful noise!!!
From the rooftop, from the hilltop
I'm going to preach in every town
I'll never quit, won't ever stop
Till time itself bows down!
Be silent? No I'm gonna SHOUT!
Calm down? No! I can't be contained!
Stay put? No I will BOLDLY GO OUT!!!
This Salvation for us, Christ attained
For don't you know…can't you see
This change that's changing me?
Can't you tell…oh don't you see
The Christian I've come to be?
If you knew my Savior, walls can't contain
If you heard my Redeemer, call out your name
If you saw how He breaks every chain
You'd shout "HOLY IS JESUS'S NAME!"
If He healed you in the dark, lost alone
In the Light you'd shine His Grace
As you were lost, He came to atone
You'd never turn away your face
All I can say is come to His Light,
All I can ask is look to the Cross
All I say is turn from the night
Or in blindness you'll pay the cost
Stay silent? How could I dare?
Stay put? No I'll never stop
That you'll see, is my prayer
That you'll shout from the rooftop
For don't you know…can't you see
This change that's changing me?
Can't you tell…oh don't you see
The Christian I've come to be?
For silent is what I can't be…
AMEN
