A Grandmother's Last Wish
When the rain seems to bring a tear to your eye,
remember I'm with you as the days go by.
Don't let the summer heat bring you down;
I never, in my life, wanted to see you frown.
Know that I'm watching over you,
when the world seems so cruel.
In a sea of diamonds of pearls,
you were always my favorite jewel.
Never forget, how I have loved you,
always, forever in memory renewed.
About this poem
Written in honor and memory of a close friend's great-grandmother, who departed this life in May 2009. She was a gentle, loving soul who left a void that was never filled.
